If you missed it...

Stacey Pelinka gave a great introduction to the Feldenkrais Method and even gave everyone a "chair lesson." If you are interested in more information, you can visit Stacey's webpage at staceypelinka.com, where she has resources for flutists. One trick was to hold a long tone and draw little circles with the end of the flute, allowing your head to move along. As you make the circles bigger, notice what else has to move, like your ribs and your spine. Soon, you realize that you've let go of your hands! (Your hands, not your flute.) The big takeaway was always come back to your breathing. Also, if you want to change a habit, slow down and pay attention to how and what you are moving. You might be surprised at how much unnecessary motion and energy you're putting into your playing!

Thank you, Stacey, for such a great class!
