The mission of the Sacramento Flute Club is to expand the art of playing the flute for the greater Sacramento music community through cooperative education and ensemble experiences for all ages and abilities.
You will not want to miss ANY of the upcoming meetings! We've packed this line-up with all-stars!
September 13: It's a locals show! Cathie Apple will present her favorite exercises from Moyse's De La Sonorite and Mila Olson will perform!
October 11th: New York flutist Patricia Zuber will join us and present Debussy's L'apres midi d'un faun, arranged for flute and marimba by her husband, principal percussionist of the Met Opera Orchestra. Have questions for her about flute and percussion music!
November 8: Retired principal flutist of the London Symphony Orchestra Paul Edmund Davies will give a lecture/ demonstration on movie soundtracks he has recorded with the orchestra, and how to solve the technical challenges those works present. In particular, he will present scores by John Williams, such as music from the Star Wars and Harry Potter movies. ***Special note: This meeting will start at 1PM to make up for the time difference between California and London!***
December 6: International soloist and professor of flute at Oberlin College, Alexa Still, will present a lecture/demonstration on the Arnold Jacobs breathing technique. She studied with Mr. Jacobs while she was in Chicago and has first-hand experience with what his breathing techniques can do for flutists!
January 10: Low Flutes expert Paige Long will give a lecture/demonstration on techniques for alto, bass, and contra bass flutes! Time for some heavy metal.

March 7: Annie Wu, first place winner in the NFA High School Artist competition almost a decade ago, will talk about and teach beatboxing techniques and more. Ms. Wu recently graduated from a double program at Harvard and NEC. She has her Bachelor's Degree in humanities from Harvard, and her Master's in flute performance from NEC. She's currently in New York city.
These meetings are for members only, but the great thing about all of them being virtual is that you don't have to live in Sacramento to be a member and take advantage of everything that membership has to offer!
