The mission of the Sacramento Flute Club is to expand the art of playing the flute for the greater Sacramento music community through cooperative education and ensemble experiences for all ages and abilities.

Mila Olson will perform Danse de la Chèvre by A. Honegger and on piccolo the Sarabande and Bourrée Anglais from J.S. Bach’s Partita in A minor for solo flute.
Mila Olson has played flute and piccolo with the Folsom Lake Symphony since 2012. She holds an M.A. degree in flute performance from San Jose State University where she studied with Isabelle Chapuis of the Paris Conservatory, and a B.M. degree in flute performance and music education at CSU Sacramento where she studied with Laurel Zucker. Mila is a founding member of the Sacramento Flute Club and currently serves as a member of the board and assists with the direction of the club’s flute choirs. She is the music teacher at Camino School, teaching general music to third through fifth grades and band to fifth through eighth grades. Mila also teaches private lessons at El Dorado Hills Music and performs locally with the Camellia City Flute Choir.
Cathie Apple presents a study of The Art of the Sonority by M. Moyse
Called by the Sacramento Bee a “fresh presence and welcome addition” to the Sacramento music scene, Dr. Cathie Apple is one of the founders of Citywater new music ensemble. She is a regular performer at the Music at Noon concert series, and performs with Sinfonia Spirituosa baroque orchestra, the Sacramento Baroque Soloists, and Celtic group Cahersiveen.
Cathie maintains a private teaching studio in Sacramento and is the flute instructor at the Pacific Institute of Music in Folsom. Previous appointments include second flutist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic and adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Southern Utah University. While in Las Vegas, Cathie founded NEXTET new music ensemble, and performed with them at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Cathie earned her Doctorate from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Amy Porter. While in Michigan, Cathie also taught at Interlochen Arts Camp and was the yoga instructor for Amy Porter’s Anatomy of Sound workshop.
